Next Production - Crazy for You

BasOp's 2007 production was the popular musical "Crazy for You" featuring songs by George and Ire Gershwin.

America’s high society East meets dusty, lacsadasical West in this riotous mix of Broadway razzle-dazzle and middle-of-nowhere western sloth. In this exuberant comedy, stage struck Bobby Child is thwarted in his dreams to be a musical theatre star on Broadway. Despite Bobby’s best efforts, the famous producer Bela Zangler won’t give his considerable talent a chance, and his banker Mother insists he go to Deadrock, Nevada, to foreclose on a rundown theatre that owes money to the bank.

In Deadrock, Bobby falls in love with Polly Baker, whose father owns the old theatre. Bobby knows that if he forecloses he won’t stand a chance with Polly. Disguised as Bela Zangler, he convinces Polly to rally the lazy locals, attract some tourists, and put on a show that will pay off the debt her father owes on the theater. Bobby even intices the Zangler Follies girls to come to Deadrock to be in the show. A hilarious build of mix-ups and mischief ensues until everything is happily resolved-- the theatre is saved, the town prospers, Polly and Bobby are united and others find love in the most unexpected of places and people..
